Psychotherapy is a type of therapy used to treat emotional problems & mental health conditions.
It involves talking to a trained psychotherapist, either one-to-one, in a group or with your wife, husband or partner. Therapy allows you to look deeper into your problems & worries to work through the challenges you are facing.
One of the key objectives of psychotherapy is to help you gain a better understanding of the issues that are troubling you. Therapy can help you work out new ways of approaching situations that you find difficult, as well as suggesting new methods to help you cope.
People come to therapy to get help. The impetus for therapy is as unique & diverse as the individuals who seek it, but typically people come to find assistance they haven’t found in other areas of their life.
Depending on the issue & type of therapy, this help may come in the form of support, information, guidance, self-knowledge and/or the space to learn & practice new tools.
Developing a trusting relationship with your psychotherapist is very important & will help you be able to talk about long-standing problems. However, this can take time.

Confidentiality is essential to build trust in the relationship between you & your therapist, so that you feel safe talk about your deepest feelings.
Confidentiality is part of the BACP Ethical Framework to which Jazz Kang works to.
The frequency of psychotherapy appointments depends on the challenge you are working through & the theoretical approach but most often sessions are scheduled once per week. Sessions may be scheduled more frequently if there is a crisis. As you progress the sessions may become fortnightly or monthly.
Frequency is totally dependent on your personal circumstances.
Where ever possible we will try to reschedule an appointment if you give at least 24 hour’s notice. The appointment will need to be rescheduled for a time within that seven day period. The fee for appointments that are missed or cancelled including where it has not been possible to reschedule is chargeable.
